What Mojo Feels Like
Over the past year, I have found an artist community that is generous, genuine, and simply stellar. The members have encouraged and challenged me — always with kindness — to grow as an artist, giving me the confidence to become more fully myself in my practice. The Arthouse is the brainchild of Sally Anne Ashley.
One of the aspects of The Arthouse that I love most is its monthly themes. Each theme becomes a point of focus for our art practice as we shape and plan the month ahead. April’s theme was “mojo.”
I am sharing here a reflection that was first posted within the community about what I discovered about mojo, and how it unfolded through the process of art-making.
One of the key discoveries for me was recognising how mojo manifests physically when I am truly “in the zone”:
“The physical cue is that my heart beats faster from taking the risk, and I feel like I can exhale deeply from the satisfaction of letting go.”
You can read more about this discovery here on Sally-Anne‘s Substack: Does Your Heart Beat Faster When You Paint?
What is your personal definition of mojo?
