The Artist’s Sabbatical: Forging a New Creative Voice
I have been enjoying the quiet after a hectic period being out and about showing my work. I love these kinds of “mini sabbaticals” as it is when I dive deep into exploration.
Playing with my materials, reflecting on the artist’s life and reading about art fuels me. So far, it is wood substrates, kiln fired glass and layered mark making that holds my attention.
This sabbatical will be extended for a while more as I feel I am at the threshold of significant change. I am holding space for a more authentic voice to slowly take shape. The process will not be rushed!
All I can say for now is that stacks of works, long hours and cuts have been worth it. It is within this very friction of making that my new voice is being forged.
